Welcome aboard!!!

My fellow Snakes, welcome aboard the HMS Severus Snape!!! For this term it will be our home away from the dungeons. I would like to thank both The Master and The Tenth Doctor for all of their hard work in applying Time Lord technology to the ship so she will be ready for us this term. Last term we had an absolutely fantastic time and as an added bonus we were able to win the House Cup. Our main goal for this term will be to retain the House Cup so I hope everyone is ready to do their part for the Noble House of Slytherin.

Every Snake needs to keep in mind that it is highly important to complete one class each month to mantain an active status here at the House Cup. Detention, OWLs, NEWTs, OoTP, and Quidditch do NOT count for the one class a month requirement. Failure to complete the one class minimum may result in not being sorted the following term.

Keep in mind that I am not a mind reader and I do have a very busy schedule with two small boys and real life college courses. I may not be able to return PMs but I do read each and every single one. So if it has been a day or two since you sent me a PM then I may have gotten distracted by one of my boys before I got a chance to respond. Plus you could also let your Big Snake, one of the Prefects, the Head Girl, or the School Nurse know what is going on. Please keep in mind that exemptions are at the discretion of the Head of House and are not automatically given.

I know the House Cup can be quite overwhelming at times and there is so much that is offered. You do not have to do everything. All I ask of every Snake is that you complete one class a month. And it doesn’t even have to be a large project. Small projects count too. Every single project counts. Every sinle point counts. Every single Snake is important. Do not hurt yourself trying to do more than you are cabable of completing in a month.

Here in the Snake Pit “disagree” = “awesome”. Enough said.

Everyone is welcome to post pictures of their favorite hotties. Don’t forget to post the name so that curious Snakes are able to look up more pictures. Plus not everyone may know who the hottie is and would greatly apprectiate a name. Keep in mind that full frontal nude shots are a no-no. Please keep your hotties appropriately covered. Also be sure that the hotties are above the age of legal consent. The age of legal consent is 18 years old. And for the first time we have a place for Slytherin cuties over in the Babykins Gallery of Cuteness.

And finally, let’s all keep in mind that this is just a game. We do know that real life comes first. Try not to stress out too much. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Have fun. Enjoy your time here this term!

Message to the First Years

First of all, welcome to the craziness that is the House Cup and welcome to the mighty House of Slytherin. When I first looked at the list and saw we had 75 First Years, I was pretty speechless. But in a good way. You see the number "75" holds a special meaning for me. It happens to be the number of the one and only aircraft carrier that I served on during my time in the US Navy. So I hope that it will be a sign of good things to come. And so far from what I have seen, y'all seem like a very enthusiastic bunch and you will do just fine this term.

Now that you have had some time to settle into your new house I just wanted to take some time to tell you a few things that might be helpful.

- Keep in mind that you are required to do a minimum of one class per month. You are of course free to do as many as you are able to. Just try not to hurt yourself in the process. And we completely understand that real life comes first.

- This term we have tried something new with the snake nests. Every single Slytherin from the first years all the way to the Head of House is now in a nest. These nests can help you settle in and answer any questions you may have.

- Here are some important links that might help you.

All of the above links are Ravelry links so you will need to be logged in to see them. If you plan to attempt an OWL, all proposals are due by the end of this month (11:59:59 PM 31 January Pacific Time). And remember that First Years are only allowed to attempt 1 OWL.

- And lastly if there are any good reasons that you are unable to submit a class project for any month then let your Big Snake know. Or you could tell one of the Prefects, Head Girl, or me (Head of House) know. Keep in mind that I am not a mind reader and will not know if you are having any problems.

So let's have a great term. And remember that every point counts. Every project counts. And every Snake is important.

We are almost there...

There is one race left in the season and half a month to go for this term. Honestly I don't know where the term has gone. It just seems like yesterday when this term started. And now there is the mad scramble to complete the OWLs and get a class in for this month. Remember, you must turn in at least one class.

Yes, I have seen the unofficial points tally. Don't let them get you down. Just shake it off and we can get through this last month. I am very proud of each and every one of you. So chin up. Plans are already being made for next term. And trust me, it will be fabulous.

Also, I would like to announce that there will be a contest for the new blog banner. So put your creative hats on. The actual voting will take place sometime in December. So when you have some spare time...give it some thought. I am still working on the timeline for this so nobody panic.

Until next time...slyther on snakes.

September In Review

I want y'all to bear with me for a few minutes while I ramble. For the past week or so I have been trying to come up with something worthy of reading. The days passed and I was working on class projects and dealing with two little boys. Then Oct 1st came and still nothing. This morning I spent time watching the race and trying to get some sort of inspiration from the Race Car Driver. But even he was having car issues. And there was nothing.

In an attempt to clear my mind, I started painting the edges in Slytherboy's room. It will be a pretty shade of green. Pea pod green to be more exact. This is far better than the dark teal like color it used to be. And that is when inspiration struck. So I spent the rest of the time hoping I would remember what just came to my mind and fearing I would forget it all.

September was a long month for us. The excitement of a new term was quickly overshadowed by an unfortunate incident which doesn't need to be brought up yet again. The one thing that kept me going through it all was my steadfast belief that we would survive. We may have stumbled but we will not fall. Why? Because we are Slytherin. And nothing can keep us from doing what we do best. Plotting and doing everything in our power to get that House Cup back from Ravenclaw.

Then I thought that many of our newer Snakes may not know a lot about me. So here I am in a nutshell. I have been here since the beginning of House Cup time. And currently I am one of only two 7th year Slytherins. I am multi-crafty in the I can knit, crochet, sew, spin, and do beadwork. I am a mother to 2 little boys - Ravenboy and Slytherboy. There is only 1 hottie that I am fiercely loyal to and that is the Race Car Driver. And I only spent 1 term outside of Slytherin. That was my 3rd term and I spent it in Hufflepuff.

Despite the rough start, I believe we had a much better ending to September. The 4 days of Slytherin Pride proved we still had it. We can still be a factor in the Chase for the House Cup. The spirit of the Slytherins is still strong. But we have to believe in ourselves. So all I ask from everyone is that you do what you can. Every project counts. Remember that.
