Hello Lovely Snakies, are we all having a lot of fun this term? I hope so because the Cheat sheet is looking grim! The Lions walloped us again this week (we did squeak by in second place, but after last week’s flu fiasco we’re way behind).

Favorite class for Slytherins this week was Potions – not a big surprise there; I’m thinking there is some extra tutoring going on with a handsome Potions master. Well, this is a month for love…potions. The rest of the school favored Care of Magical Creatures. Well, this is a month for love…

Two Reds Are Better Than One

The redhead theme this week was a popular one, but I'm sure it was no shock to anyone that the winner of the Redheaded Hottie poll ended up being a dual winner - James and Oliver Phelps! Known for portraying Fred and George Weasley, these two actually had to dye their hair ginger for the movies, but we won't hold that against them. Just because we aren't born redheaded, doesn't mean we can't convert (says a Slytherin with auburn-out-of-the-box hair).

This next week is Valentine's Day, for those who celebrate it. This can be a tricky holiday, some folks love it, some folks hate it. For myself, it's been an extremely mixed bag over the years, so I tend to regard it warily.

One Valentine's tradition I always indulge in, though, is CHOCOLATE! To honor this chocolate-filled holiday (mm, chocolate filling), nominate your favorite hotties with chocolate in its many forms. Whether the hottie is eating the chocolate, drinking it, or saving it for us, there must be chocolate in the photo. Go forth and nominate!

Take off your Hat Trick hats, Snakes, so you can listen up for Earburns of Love and Bonus Points!

Not all projects will earn bonus points, and the point-system is shrouded in mystery. But if you put a lot of work into your classes last year, you may soon be getting a call. Those of ~~you~~ us who are controlling the stress via Spreadsheet just love this time of the month, where January's total can be tallied up!

So far, I have only seen Potions up, but the first Granger Brain award goes to Miaparanoia, who aced Potions with a bright, navajo plied, handdyed, handspun sportweight yarn :)

Aaa..aaaa. ..aaa-CHOOO!!!!

Obviously the entire Slytherin house is sick because the only 3 brave Snakes who turned in homework the first few days of this month were CraftyGryphon, KnitInferno and EskimoPam all for Muggle Studies. Super awesome job to you three!!!!!!

The rest of us had better get our ambitions in gear because here’s the down and dirty scoop: we’re losing. Not just this week – the whole thing. This week the Badgers were on top of their game, but overall we’re now quite a bit behind the Griffs-and we’re losing ground. Potions is for shrinking this month – made for a knit-a-long and this class is not to be skipped. Also, don’t miss out on Option 3 for Care of Magical Creatures – using scraps.

We’ve all got to pull together this month – everyone should try to turn in one more project than last month. It’s not really that we’re doing badly – actually we’re putting out more effort than last term; the problem is that all the other houses are just doing a lot more.

We can still do this! Go Snakes go!

Great job my lovely Slytherins! The classes have been quite full this week. We came in second again in homework assignments turned in – smoked by the Griffs this week.

Overall it is a VERY close score for the month. We’re in second place-barely. The Griffs are 40 posts ahead of us, so turn in everything you can think of to get us points in the next few days!!! Remember to turn in partials if you just can’t get it done. We’re not out of this yet.

I myself have mastered the breakable oath, which basically means glove number two is currently missing. Let us craft as if our common room was on fire. No, really, that wasn’t me and you can’t prove it. Pull out those time turners and remember: pictures or it didn’t happen.

Charms class was the most favorite class for the entire school this week and the Silver and Green dominated that room. Potions was still very popular as well.

For many in the Snake Pit, Friday is the start to the weekend. Its the lead in to a few days of rest, relaxation and crafting. Fridays are simply fantastic and this week, I'd like to do a quick Flashback of this week with a few notes from my Diminuendo Reports.

Watching over this week's hottie contest was rough: so many snowball fights and cups of hot cocoa by the fire afterwards ... it can be such a difficult job. [sigh] But finally, a snowball champion and hottie contest winner was declared.

For our hotties in the snow theme this week, the winner is Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn!

Since we've got wintry hotties, let's give a shout out to our Slytherins in the southern hemisphere! This week, nominate your warm, sunny hotties and post pictures of your favorite hotties at the beach (appropriately clothed, of course).

Oh Woe, Sadness and Despair my loyal Snakes. We are last again in homework posts this week. Last term at this time we had posted 30 more homework assignments than this term and, I feel it is my duty to remind you, NEXT MONTH IS A SHORT ONE. We’ll be cramming for our OWL midterms and sometimes homework drops off, so we’ve got to make it count this month!

A week and a half left of January – don’t let it slip by, post now, post often and boost points with fun stories. Tell a nice yarn…

Care of Magical Creatures had the most green and silver robes this week, but the rest of the school favored Arithmancy.

Unacceptable homework excuse for the week: I’ve been too busy chatting in the Doom Goat Inn lounge to actually DO anything else.

Detention: Crochet Spotlight

No, not a crocheted spotlight (though that could be really cool. Especially with an LED in so it would actually light up. Somebody should totally do that.). A spotlight on crochet. And specifically, colorful crochet!

INTERIOR - DOOMGOAT INN. Slytherins sit giggling around a softly spotlit runway. Hotties pass through the crowd, distributing extra pillows and hot drinks. As the house lights magically dim, an expectant hush falls across the room.

Lillerina is first, showing off a subtle blend of steel and rust.

GothKnitty comes next, swathed in all the colors of the Tardis.

LambChop00 follows, with a mischievous magical tug that seems to drain the deepest blue from GothKnitty's Granny Stripes and layer it into the Settlers Afghan. (Not to worry, though.- it's a simple illusion, and easily reversed.)

And finally, with a serene smile, Bidibid glides onto the runway in her True Colours Scarf.

The reverent silence is broken by whistles, cheers, and applause so thunderous that one of the hotties bursts into tears and has to be soothed with cupcakes. But in all that noise of celebration, no one, not one single Snake, is heard to squee.

Quidditch

The first challenge is underway! If you'd like to make a 25yard memento for future civilizations to find, you'll get 15 points for it. Sybil is pretty certain that the Snarfalump Army is going to wipe us out, so it's worth thinking about. :)

Points-wise, it may be better to get 6 classes under your belt first, as there is a possibility of bonus points, but we would so LOVE to have TWO TROPHIES on the shelf for next term. We're nothing if not ambitious, after all!

ALongs!

In case you haven't discovered them yet, the House Unity Theme for this term is Craft-a-longs of all sorts. There is a Lingerie-along for all sorts of frilly underthings, a clap-along for the old favorite Clapotis, a Hat Trick Challenge in honor of our impending cup hat trick (three-in-a-row), a spin-along for the twisted ones ;) and a Carp-along for the sheer silliness! Check out the unity thread for all the links.

Breaking the OWL barrier

It seems there is a hex over the OWLs. The number of finished OWLs is about 50% of the number of proposals. All the houses, every term, seem to hit around this number.

Slytherin, however, is aiming to break through this odd barrier with at least 60% OWL completion. Seashelly is doing her thwacking best, but frankly, we need to do our own work. (If whippings were OWLs we'd be set, though...) Work out what you need to do for your OWL each week, or each day, and do your best to complete it. Plot and plan and scheme (like a good Slytherin!) to make sure your OWL gets done.

Anyway, the Ravenclaws are going to outOWL us if we don't get a higher completion percentage than them.

We had a much better showing of Slytherin ambition this week! Nice job everyone. We came in second in homework posts – the Lions took over not only in homework this week, but in homework this month. We’re super-duper just barely behind the Badgers over all.

I’m not worried because I know you super sneaky snakes are crafting superior projects full of lots of extra yardage. Just don’t get so wrapped up in your OWLs that you forget to post at least one assignment. Also, please check up on your nest mates to make sure they don’t get sucked into the Vanishing Cabinet. Maybe someone better also check to make sure none of our new super comfy couches in the common room are actually vampire couches that suck up all your crafting energies.

Apparently, this is the season where all students like to exchange stories over a warm bubbly cauldron in Potions class because it was packed again this week. There were the fewest Snakes in History of Magic, but the rest of the school was spread out pretty evenly among the other classes.

We’re going to have to do more if we want to keep this cup another term, Slytherins – the rest of the school seems to be working together to take the cup away from our beloved Head of House.

Craft my Pretties, Craft! We can do this!

Unacceptable Homework Excuse for the Week: I was being helpful in the NQFY lounge and left my time-turner at the Inn, then lost track of the actual time and took a wrong turn at the kitchens where I stopped to politely have some tea with the PG-13 line where I discovered my homework had gone missing and by then I had missed class for the week.

Green Hotties!

Slytherin House was covered in green, green, everywhere, and plenty of green to drink this week. The hotties showed off in their verdant-colored best, but only one was voted to represent our house colors. Our winner of the Hottie in Green contest was perennial favorite David Tennant!

Well, Cup Winners another term is upon us. We’re all still settling into our cozy new rooms. Awesome job to all who helped with the giant explosion I heard that went off in Detention. Mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha. Overall for homework this week, however, we’re in last. Congratulations to those hard working Puffs, who posted the most homework assignments this week. We’re coming for you Badgers.

Potions was PACKED this week. It was everyone’s favorite class and has well over 250 assignments already turned in. Get your Potions homework in fast before those Professors pass out from exhaustion! Just one Slytherin each showed up in both Care of Magical Creatures and Charms this week, while most of the rest of the school gave up on Transfiguration. I think with a little more practice and a lot more yardage, this will be remedied soon, however.

Unacceptable homework excuse of the week: Professor Snape confiscated my homework for chicken coop liner.

Welcome to WIN WIN WINter term! The hotties have been flat out this week, swatching for OWLs, whipping up the hot chocolate, and rescuing dizzy firsties from the top of the stairs.

Here in Australia it's a scorching Summer heat wave, and we started the term at 7pm. It has its advantages; there was plenty of time to submit an OWL and some detention, read all the class prompts, catch up in the lounge room of Doom Goat Inn, and make a spreadsheet or two. In other parts of the world the term started well after bedtime, and many a sleep-deprived snake was seen staring at Quidditch with their eyes crossed, reading the same sentence over and over until their heads spun.

But it all straightens out in a few days.

Day One of the term was extremely eventful, though! We seem to have submitted way more OWL proposals than anyone else * , and 26 are already approved, we bombed detention, posted classes within hours, and still had time for about 1000 pages of Common Room chatter.

Quidditch this term is looking fairly laid back. It took me a while to soak in the words at 2am, but in the end I came up with this summary, which helps me, and might help someone else...

You can do a or b or both, as you please.

a. Choose one of the options in post 2. Spend all term making things that fit in this category, worth 15 points each. You can do up to 15, so it's potentially worth 225 points. 25-yard minimum is recommended but not law.
b. Wait for a "challenge" like the one in post 3. There is a time frame and a 25-yard minimum.

Welcome to all the new students! The Hottie Room should be here somewhere, so find yourself someone Helpful ;) and settle in to work. My internet time is over, so I'm going back to Care of Magical Creatures now, while my OWL warms up on the stove ;) and Hugh swatches my next Order Mission for me. Hugs!

New Editor-in-Chief - TrustCrazyIdeas - checking in with a before term report!

Only two days are left until Winter 2012 term starts - and the Snakes are getting restless!

~~Plotting cup domination~~ Planning for classes is well underway!

The Unity Team has been ~~plotting~~ planning and with the help and ideas from many in the Snake Pit have come up with quite a few Craft-a-longs underway to help motivate the Snakes to taking home the cup for the third win in a row!!! Check out the Triple Crown Threats thread for more information. From classes, to detention to missions and more - there is something for everyone in Unity the term!

It seems our Quest Mistress - Abycat has been very busy, planning for us to be spending a lot over over-nighters this term to make GirlyWithATwist's dream of being a 3 time-a-row House Cup Winning HOH come true. Find some snazzy pajamas and join us in questing for the cup!

Wow, the Lions have put forth a tremendous effort this week and overall in November. The actual numbers are a bit depressing, but we are indeed a firm second, in fact, overall for this term we’re not that far behind them. We can still pull it out, so don’t forget to post even partial projects for points.

Now is the time to finish all the things and turn them in. You can do it noble Slytherins. We are crafty, we are ambitious, and we will do whatever it takes to keep the cup. Go snakes, go!

Most favored class by the Slytherins this week was a four way tie between Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology and Potions. The rest of the school also favored Potions, but not by a large margin. Least favorite by the rest of the school was Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Just remember, once a Snake, always a snake. So next term whether you find yourself a Slytherin, SOS or sorted elsewhere, please come and chat in our common room and feel free to cheer us on in Quidditch. We’re all family here. Also, drop me a line or comment on what you liked, didn’t like, want more of or want less of so I can focus on what keeps all of you motivated for next term.

We can do it crafty and gorgeous Slytherins! The cruise will be docking soon, so turn in your homework, pack up your hotties and gather in the bar for one last farewell toast until next term…or at least until the end of year party, followed by the House Cup Winner party, followed by the-yeah, we don’t really need a reason.

Cage Match!

It turns out there was an irregularity in the hottie contest this week.

Viggo Mortensen was nominated and looked to be the winner, but it was revealed that his nomination picture was photo-shopped by unknown perpetrators. The original photo was of Gerard Butler!

Once challenged, Viggo wasn't about to back down, and Gerard wasn't being discounted from the hottie crown quite so easily! "Foul" was called and a cage match broke out between the two martial artists in question.

Not wanting to be left out, both Jet Li and Mark Decascos joined in! It looked to be absolute chaos, with no champion emerging, but suddenly, out of nowhere ...

CHUCK NORRIS (apparently taking a break from World of Warcraft) leaped into the fray and gained the advantage with the use of his extra "beard-fist."

While no clear hottie winner will be announced this week, I think this cage match will not soon be forgotten.

Ever since I saw knitreaver's Phoenix Tears scarf in Detention, I've become a little obsessed with fluffy novelty yarns.

I mean, just look at this gorgeous thing!

And it looks like I'm not the only one who's caught the bug, if GothKnitty's Yule Ball finery is anything to go by.

I'm a little worried that a novelty-yarn epidemic might break out, so I popped in to the Potions classroom to see if anyone might have a cure - and look who greeted me when I walked in the door. Slothmuffin's Get-Better Owl, Pepper!

(Now, this might be a good time to admit I've got one skein of black eyelash yarn in my stash, and one of black and silver. And they're calling to me... calling... my... name...)

The Dance is Over

Yule Ball is over and done. Time to rest your feet after all that dancing around. The Yule Ball went well. The snakes made a good last minute push but sadly we just could not catch up. The scares are:

Today it occurred to me that there is only a week or so left of the term. I've been so caught up in trying to plan how to finish All The Things, that I forgot ...a holiday is around the corner.

In December, the pace will slow, the games will begin, and we will lay back in our Dungeon armchairs in front of the fire for a bit of well-earned R&R. Threads will close and open. Various spreadsheets will cover every table. Crazed older students will jump onto the NEWT train. The Sorting Hat is dusted off.

Crafting becomes fun again, for those of us who have begun to feel the chore of it under pressure. Project pages are straightened up. Yarn turns up under Christmas trees all over the place. The knitwear of the last months gets put into family circulation (and beyond).

Ten more days, Snakeys, and we can put down the sticks. Then have a strong drink.

Then pick up the sticks again. For fun. (Remember, we LOVE this crafty stuff!)

Now.

Ten more days. Enjoy it, because December is going to be long! :)

I was feeling reluctant to blog today. Mainly because I've been knitting with silk for the first time. Not only is it 100% silk, but it is silver. And not only am I knitting with silver silk, but I'm knitting the Cuteness that is "Tiny Shoes"... Sometimes knitting is such a treat that you don't even need hotties to rub your shoulders while you work! Sometimes. At other times, like earlier this week, it is eight thousand stitches of stocking stitch, and then you start Sleeve #2.

How are you going, Snakeys? Slogging through or floating through? Or doing the roller coaster that is "Knit All the Things at the Same Time"? Whatever your style, awesome work is being done, stitch by stitch.

Now, last week I highlighted the projects from October that scored the most bonus points in Arithmancy, Transfiguration, Care of Magical Creatures and Charms. This week we have a few more.

SoftnShiny earned 51 points (that's 36 bonus points) for her 700 yards of DADA spinning (and a story that fit the class prompt so well, no doubt.)

Ah, SSHG. What can I say? Those plies look good together ;)

Bewilderbeast (again) with a bonus 15 for her Potions homework.

Funfairiegirl, who got 29 bonus points for her Muggle Studies lanesplitter. Awesome for its style and colors, and I do love a knitted skirt.

Oh! Just a reminder that tomorrow (Tuesday the 15th) is the first day you are allowed to present your completed Order of the Phoenix Missions. You have until the end of the month, of course, but get in early if you can. These Missions are worth 100 points, and according to the House Cup Blog we're about 900 behind. (How updated is that tally, I wonder?) Anyway, I can't wait to start reading all the awesome stories of clever heroics and cunning plots that our brilliant Snakes have been working on these last 6 weeks.

Wow, look at all the Red and Gold everywhere this week. Everyone must be getting ready for Christmas early this year...wait a sec...those are Gryffindor colors. All the classes have been packed with Lions this week. Amazing job this week by the Gryffs - they more than doubled homework from anyone else; that's us in second, by the way. Slytherins must be working hard on their OWLs. Right? Am I right? Please say I'm right.

Defense Against the Dark Arts was running a bit empty this week and it was Charms that was the favorite class of the Snakes and the whole school. Hey, we do know the cool places to hang, or maybe they're just cool because we're there.

Nobody panic yet, because the overall term totals are super close. So far the Gryffs have it, but there are only single digits between us.

Unacceptable homework excuse of the week: I'm moving to Wisconsin. Wait, that only works for Girly (good luck with your move HOH)! For the rest of you - keep those fingers moving.

Here's to Mrs. Figg

This month's special Detention badge is named in honor of Arabella Figg, the "crazy cat lady" who watched over Harry Potter and protected him, without him knowing, for years. Described as a batty old lady with frizzy grey hair peeking out from her hairnet, Mrs. Figg was one of the unlikeliest heroes of the Second Wizarding War. This week's post is dedicated to her.

It was GothKnitty's tribute to Mrs. Figg, a newly refurbished wig to cover and contain her wild grey tangles.

In the depths of a Little Whinging winter, though, a Squib needs something more than a wig to keep her noggin toasty. Something, maybe, like Warm All Winter, xsangel100's Potions homework.

Even more than her ineffectual hairnets and embarrassing carpet slippers, though, Harry Potter knew Mrs. Figg for her love of cats. And I like to think that if Mrs. Figg ever sat down to knit, she would have knitted cupcake hats just like this one, created for Potions by kimanneberly, for her beloved part-kneazle companions.

The last events for both the Yule Ball and Tri-Wizard are going on now! It seems most cuppers are concentrating on finishing their OWLs, NEWTs or playing with the new classes... because quidditch has been quiet this past week.

Cunning Slytherins flooded professors’ desks with last minute homework, dominating not only the last few days of October classes, but pulled ahead of the Griffs by almost 20 posts for October. I’m so proud of you all!

The Griffs took over the first few days of November doubling the posts of any other house, which only amounted to 16, so nobody panic. On to OWL fever: I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.

Defense Against the Dark Arts and Muggle studies have gotten slow starts, while Divination and Herbology are already looking to be popular classes.

Unacceptable homework excuse for the week: I have my homework right here in my pants; what do you mean I’m not wearing pants?

Breaking Out of Detention

It got lonely in Detention last month, y'all. So this month, we're trying something new. (And by we, I mean me.)

Each week, I will start in Detention, then roam the halls at will. I will try to stick to a theme, though - and this week, the theme is "first!"

This week, then, we begin with freply's Knitted Lacy Round Cloth, which was meant for last month's Potions assignment. No matter. It was the first Slytherin project posted in Detention this month!

Next up, crafterix with the very first belladonna-inspired project turned in for November's Herbology class.

Deadlines Deadlines!

It's the end of the month again, and we are all wound up with winding up our plans. The Slytherin Society of the Arched Brow is busy with updates; hop on over here to start to start reading at Tangeldav's awesome post (First Class Quest plus Silver Serpent, and almost a week before the end of the month, too!) and if you're questing, don't forget to put in your own update some time today. (I think early tomorrow morning is also accepted.)

Quidditch is almost done, as the Yule Ball finishes October 30, not 31. The 31st is for planning big projects, because there is lots of time for Sport next month. I do, however, believe that we blitzed the ball this month...

Slytherin OWL 50%'s are at 32 as I write this, with a handful more waiting approval. Don't forget, there is not half the term left, only a third! Get cracking, Seashelly! :)

Masters of the Universe! I have the POWERRRRR! Oh, uh, hi there. Sorry, I was carried away by the abundance of all the necropants in the dungeon. Sight beyond sight, growing swords…another time then.

Slytherins rule the school this week. Boo-ya. We are an inch behind the Griffs overall, so anyone and everyone who hasn’t washed something – hurry up and do it. Filtch is getting itchy fingers and he likes things clean. Seriously, we’re only at the half way point in potions posts and you’ve only got two and a half days left; don’t miss out on this possible extra prize of yarny goodness.

Thanks to the brilliant thong-a-long Ancient Runes was packed full of sexy snakes. All the classes were packed overall, but most of the rest of the school favored Defense Against the Dark Arts. The most empty seats were in Transfiguration, but not many.

Unacceptable homework excuse of the week: I ate too much Halloween candy and I can’t stop vibrating. (I know your dirty little minds are working overtime on that one.) Mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha.

What an awesome week for the Noble House of Slytherin! We turned in the most homework by about 10. Yessssssss! We’re catching up to the Gryffs.

Snakes favored Care of Magical Creatures this week while the rest of the school was to be found in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Ancient Runes was sparse this week, so give those Professors a bit of a break and try to post to that class early in the week so they’re not overwhelmed by the flood of homework that will be turned in. I seem to recall a conversation I had a few terms ago about zombies. Someone was convinced that we would let the zombies into Hogwarts, but never fear I came to our defense quickly. I stated of course we wouldn’t –the zombies would eat all the hotties. Duh. We have priorities. Thanks for helping me prove we are well prepared.

In other news: LAST WEEK TO TURN IN HOMEWORK! OK, it’s a little more than one week, but seriously, things are wrapping up fast. Post those pictures, especially in Potions, you don’t want to lose out on your chance at yarny goodness from our beloved Abycat.

Random rumor: both Frankenstein and candy corn were seen about the ship this week. The big green guy was so cute we let him serve drinks.

Ship’s Mess will be open late all this week and hotties will be on hand with extra quills to help with completing homework. Don’t forget to get your 50% OWLs in.

A Very Special Episode of Detention

This month, any project turned into Detention and meant to be gifted to someone else earns the Severus Snape Badge, named in honor of our beloved former Head of House, for the gift of devotion he gave to Lily Evans Potter.

Yesterday, kims challenged Slytherin to turn in 69 Detention projects eligible for the Severus Snape Badge, and I promised to post every single one of them on the blog if we do.

This week, though, I'm only posting one.

While most students avoid the Detention Hall, slinking past with their WIPs tucked under their arms, hoping no one will notice they haven't quite finished them yet, GothKnitty set out this month to craft something special (and then turned in a completed WIP, too).

Intended to cheer up a friend "going into Hospital to have a camera up her bum," and simultaneously thank her for her unfailing kindness and emotional support, this little pumpkin = Love.

Time for Some New Moves

This has been a busy week in the Quidditch World. Task #2 just concluded with a mad dash of cuppers trying to get their tasks in at the last minute. My very unofficial count (because I have had no coffee and numbers hate me) are as followed:

We did not end up on top, but it was a very close race. Good job to all those who participated!

Now we move forward to the Yule Ball Event #2:Dance Steps. Looks like this is going to be a lot of fun. You can complete 2 different dances for points this time around. Info on the different dances can be found here.
For added motivation I will be doing a prize drawing for those Snakes who have learned 2 dances for this event. The prize will be a Ravelry pattern of the winners choice up to $5. The drawing will take place after the end of the Yule Ball Event on Oct 30th. I will be announcing the winner on Oct. 31st! So please don't forget to tag your projects with YBSlyQF11 to be eligible.

The numbers for the cuppers who have already mastered some of the dancers are:

Slytherins have been scoring goals left right and center this week. Sadly, no snitch, but there are now about 50 people in the running for Task 3. Remember, we have 4 whole weeks to do Task 3, so ponder while you dance... make sure you check out the Yule Ball this fortnight. There are some very quick and easy dancing options (CoughDyeingCough), and thirty points for two dances is nothing to be sneezed at.

Evil’s Cheat Sheet of Total Domination, Week 2

Well Snakes, the points for last month are out and we are currently second, but only behind the Griffs by 861 points. We did turn in more homework than them, but bonus points, Quidditch and detention seems to have fallen in their favor. Don’t panic, however, just adjust your ~~Evil~~ ~~deceptive~~ ~~cheating~~ brilliant homework plans accordingly. Note to self: get a new Quick –Quotes Quill this one’s too ~~accurate~~ glitchy.

This week Lions are still ahead on homework, but we’re not too far behind. I’m sure you Slytherins are all working on larger assignments for better extra credit points and there will be a flurry (again) of homework posts soon.

Snakes were packed into the potions class (not surprising after Abycat gave us all great incentive). Charms class was lacking in brilliant Slytherin students this week. The rest of the school is still favoring Defense Against the Dark Arts with the most empty desks in Ancient Runes. Take a peek, Hogwarts, Ancient Runes this month is fun and useful.

Unacceptable homework excuse of the week: I was stuck in a conga-line with a giant dancing banana.

Stay crafty snakes, there are three more weeks of the month, so crank out your OWLs and NEWTs and kick some butt in Quidditch. For those of you doing BROOMS, I understand you’re just being stealthy.

Evil’s Cheat Sheet of Total Domination, Week 1

Alas, the first week of October is done already and we have once again come in second for homework turn-in posts. I am not fretting, for I know you crafty snakes are working hard and squirreling away your projects (tis the season to squirrel, after all) and will blow me away the week of Halloween. We’re only about 10 projects behind the Griffs (those Lions are workin’ it this term!), so someone get a KAL going.

Also, our amazing Abycat has generously offered up a chance to win yarny goodness for every Slytherin who submits potions homework this month, so re-arrange your plotting accordingly. I challenge you all to post potions and expect to see 160 posts from the Noble House of Slytherin; spread the word and check up on your nest mates.

Snakes did favor Potions this week and were suspiciously absent from Charms class. Most of the rest of school was participating in Defense against the Dark Arts with the most empty seats to be found in Transfiguration. Once again the Ravenclaws are scare to be found around the campus and one wonders if there is a sickness that has been passed amongst them. Perhaps we should organize a study group with them, as many of us consider ourselves part Claw?

I heard a rumor that our Whipmistress is missing, perhaps a plot is afoot? Stay on your guard snakes and remember: no candy until your homework is done!

I apologize for the delay this week. I was on my way down to the Detention classroom, and I... well... Oh, this is embarrassing. I tripped over my own feet, and tumbled all the way down the stairs. Lucky for me that my project bag cushioned my fall! The worst part was that Professor Snape saw me do it. He did help me up, but I could tell that he was *not* impressed. He suggested I try an anti-fumblefoot charm, but since he didn't tell me how to cast one, I've been experimenting on my own. I think Misselle and LambChop00 might be able to help me.

LambChop00's worked a stairway charm she calls Slippery Slope. I'm sure she meant "Not-So-Slippery Slope," because I've never seen her roll down the stairs.

And Misselle's Small Wings should carry whoever wears them safely over any obstacle. Even her own left foot.

Slytherin Stats of Splendour

The OWL thread is now locked, and there are a few proposals waiting for approval, but not enough to make a difference to the Awe of the Dungeons! Counting up approved OWL's from page 1 of the thread gave me these figures:

We put in the most proposals in Charms, Arithmancy, DADA, CoMC, Transfiguration, Ancient Runes, Muggle Studies and Potions (Snape would be proud).

Evil's Cheat Sheet of Total Domination; Week 4

EvilOverlady314 shambles into the common room. She stumbles a bit as she makes her way over to the Bulletin Board and posts a paper using the magically magnetic tacks. One of the tacks misses the paper and pins her sleeve to the board. Evil pulls feebly at it for a moment and then leans against the wall and falls asleep. Misha Collins comes over and scoops up Evil while unpinning her from the Board. She barely wakes and mumbles “are the new classes up yet?” Misha carries her off to her room, “Not tonight. You plot much better in the morning over coffee anyway, Mistress.”

I am amazed and exhausted. What an amazing bunch of crafters we have in the House Cup! The classrooms were packed in the last week of September – more than one professor was overheard casting an extension charm. Usually the average homework assignments completed each week per house is around 75; this week EACH house averaged around 260. I told you the Ravenclaws would figure out the jinx out of their tower, however, and they turned in the most homework (300). Nice job Claws.

Snakes had a lot of fun in Astronomy this week, and were least likely to be found in Divination and Muggle Studies. Most of the rest of the school favored Care of Magical Creatures this week, but as I said, every class was packed.

But wait! It’s month end and my brilliant plotting Snakes posted the most overall homework assignments for this month. AWESOME JOB EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!

Also, remember to give lots of love and always give respect to our amazing teachers; they are overworked and underpaid. I want to put this in perspective for all of you: not including NQFYs,SOS and Detention posts, there were 1,954 homework projects this month. That's a lot of grading; my eyes are blurring from just counting them all.

There is no homework excuse for this week – get started and you may get a prize for turning in some homework in the first week of classes. Keep it up Slytherins and the Cup stays here.

Detention: Week Four. Doom Lace.

As September draws to a close, it's time to turn our attention to lace - but not just any lace. No, what we're after this week is doom lace. Or doomed lace, if you'd rather. Following are the Detention projects whose tangled decreases and tricky yarnovers earned them the <del>dreaded</del> coveted Sybil Trelawney Grim Award.

We begin with knitreaver's Frozen Leaves, a cool and elegant design that saved Ms. Reaver from the uncooperative clutches of a certain shawl named Percy.

Next up, QallieQ's Age of Brass and Steam, which a helpful house elf unraveled for her halfway through.

And speaking of house elves, CraftyGryphon, deserves a badge for this beautiful tribute to Dobby, who was A Free Elf.

Dobby's not the only hero in this thread. Terik nobly sacrificed her Ophidian to teach us all a lesson about lifelines. (Well, most of us. I'm not naming names.)

Next, demonstrating that sometimes the source of Doom is on the needles, Momofpeg's mini Atreides, a modification made necessary by recalcitrant yarn.

And to remind us that sometimes Doom is on the page, not in the hook, deadalchemist brings us nearly 1,000 yards of crocheted lace, soaked with her blood and tears.

RockyMoreno, a Slytherin on Sabbatical, defeated the forces of sewing and inertia to finish A Little Karma just in time to enjoy the last warm days of the year.

And finally, Bastet0330 proves that Gryffindor has no monopoly on bravery (or stubbornness), with an Alcyone in a yarn she hated, from a pattern she never made friends with.

Attention, please, shipmates! Massages are being held on the main deck at 2pm, yoga is at 4pm and drinks tonight are starting at 5. Please, wear your most comfortable clothes and neglect all housework. It's time to take a deep breath.

If you're like me, you've been making new lists this week. I will finish this on Tuesday, whip up this on Wednesday, and then I'll have all of Thursday and Friday to finish the last three things. If you can't stop looking at the calendar, I encourage you to pass one of your projects over to a hottie, for safekeeping until Detention Day, Saturday, October 1st. Noone is supposed to have a nervous breakdown on a Cruise. It's just not Slytherin.

The unofficial tallies have been regular and riveting. We started off brilliantly, and got slowly overtaken by those aggressive badgers. But this is not the end of Quidditch, of course, and the Cup goes to the house with the most points in the end. Evil's Cheat Sheet to Total Domination, Week 3

I'd like to start by reminding all of you that this is still just a game and it's supposed to be fun. Certainly don't abandon your home life for a solitary life of all crafting all the time (although it is tempting). I am very competitive and was frustrated when I thought we were ahead and doing great and then the next thing you know we lost. So since I thought some of you might be a touch competitive too, I started keeping my cheat sheet so we can estimate where we really are in the Cup standings. Don't stress about it people - stop and have a drink and a hottie. Because it just doesn't matter if we win or if we lose...because all the really good looking girls would still go out with the guys from Mohawk because they've got all the money! No, wait, that's not right. It doesn't matter if we win or lose because we still get an awesome end of term party and we get to hang out with all the other great people in the other houses. That said, BACK TO WORK!

This week the HMS Severus Snape was pirated (and we liked it). The rum flowed, the hotties yarrrred and arrrred, and some ferrets walked the plank. Best of all was that we really got the hang of life on the ship because Snakes posted the most homework this week!!!!!!!!!!! and it was by a lot. Yes, I know you're thinking it - we've almost caught up to the Griffindors. Nice work everyone.

Potions class was crammed with Slytherins this week and everyone's still having a tough time with Divination. A special shout out to all the snakes who posted in Astronomy this week; it's great that you're showing Uranus, uh Astronomy class, love. The rest of the school favored Charms this week, but only by a small margin.

Unexcusable Homework excuse of the week: My homework is tangled in the banana hammock in the Galley.

Detention: Week 3. Autumn Is Upon Us

The Whomping Willow's leaves are tinged with gold, and this morning, the fog was so thick on the lake I could just barely see the giant squid's tentacles waving through the mist.

Our Snakes are ready for the changing seasons, though, with a selection of lovely cardigans and pullovers that will keep them warm even in the notoriously drafty Detention Hall.

LambChop00's Tappan Zee is perfect for these early days of autumn, when the morning chill gives yields to late-summer warmth in the afternoon, and the color will serve as a reminder of spring when the winter winds begin to blow.

As the weather gets colder, Alexaferg18's February Lady Sweater will be perfect for layering, at the Triwizard Events or at a Muggle Football Game. (Ms. Alexa is a fan of the... Ponies, was it? No, no. Colts. I'm sure she said it was the Colts.)

The Tri-Wizard Tournament began yesterday with the start of the first task!

So far it is a close race! As of 9am Founders Time, we have taken an early lead with 6 turn-ins. Ravenclaw is close on our tails with 5. Hufflepuff and Gryffindors both tied with 1 turn in each.

We have until Sat. Sept. 24th to complete Task #1. It is still anyones game so keep crafting! If you still need the element prompts please see the main thread here for more information. It looks like all four houses have submitted a similar number of order missions. While this is fantastic for the Order of the Phoenix, it seems the points winner will be the house with the most completed missions.

Oh where, oh where have my lovely snakes gone? Oh where, oh where can they beeeeeeeee? Cause the Lion's are roaring and the Puffs have- Merlin's Beard the classrooms were crammed with Hufflepuffs this week! 83 homeworks turned in - great job to all those hard working Puffs. The Griffs are still on fire posting 77 and then my little Snakes comes us at 70, sadly 21 less than last week. Claws are still jinxed it seems. Don't be fooled, they're working on big stuff and will post like Banshees when they escape.

What can I do to encourage you? Stop singing? Promise an amazingly wild bonfire party if we win? I know you've all been working hard on really big stuff, but I'm starting to get nervous here.

Potions was standing room only this week - a favorite with the Snakes as well as the rest of the school. So few students wandered into Astronomy this week and one was only a firstie who was lost and needed directions to Herbology. Come on star gazers turn in your homework.

Unforgivable homework excuse of the week: My homework got tangled up in a banana hammock.

Overall we need 34 homework assignments to catch up to the Griffs and the Puffs are hot on our tails. Cast off you amazing and ambitious Slytherins! You can do it!

Also, a brief warning that there is a bug going around that makes students unable to complete any homework, especially when they have 5 or 6 projects already on the needles. Take steps to steer clear of this bug: warm tea, chocolate, and encouragement from good friends are the best known remedies.

You are all amazing and I know you can do it. Show me your stuff! (no, not that stuff, oh dear that may be over the PG-13 line, I'd need more than a few friends for that anyway...)

Detention: Week 2. The Hurricane Edition

This week, we (and by we, I mean me) spotlight two projects, both in stormy shades of blue and green, completed as Hurricane Irene swept along the East Coast of the United States like Severus Snape dragging well-deserving students to Detention, his robes billowing like dark clouds, his deep voice echoing like thunder...

Sorry, I'll just give you all a moment to regain your focus.

Ahem.

TrishBadish's Eternity Scarf was truly born of the storm. Ms. Badish bought the yarn the day before Irene was due to arrive, and was so smitten by it that she couldn't wait until the first day of classes to cast on. Of course the Ministry sensed her use of knitting magic outside of school, but there was nothing they could do except send her to Detention.

Lunathecat cast on for a mystery knit-along in early spring, with a gorgeous laceweight yarn she'd been saving, and 1,500 glass beads. However, as the project reached the halfway point, and the instructions demanded that she repeat the previous steps in reverse, Ms. Luna succumbed to project fatigue, as happens to all of us from time to time.

With Hurricane Irene approaching, though, Ms. Luna rediscovered her spring fling, and completed the intricate lace scarf called Ennoble.

Hurricane Irene and her little brother Lee caused millions of dollars of damage, and took more than 40 people's lives. That such beauty came from the storm as well only makes these two treasures more precious.

Sunday, Sept 18th- Task 1 is to begin! All that we really know about this event is students will be asked to pick an element path. Still thread stalking waiting for more details about the elements. According to the main Quidditch Thread, there will be no specific "type" of craft (ie. socks, shawls, ect.) but the project must meet the minimum of 150 yards. You will have until Sat., Sept 24th to complete the task. Also please note that in order to participate in Task 2 you MUST complete Task 1.

Snakes are doing well, but holy mother of alpaca, the Griffs want their Harry back! They've posted 27 more homeworks than we have, so let's step up our game. Also, someone must have jinxed the tower doors because the Claws have been having a really hard time getting to class - they've posted half of what the Lions have.

Favorite class of the week for everyone was Charms. Not a lot of seats were filled in both Care of Magical Creature and Divination. So find a little clarity in your life or take a picture of your desirables and show a little love to these professors.

Also, Potions is a no brainer this month. Stash deflation gang - get moving on that Fall cleanup.

Unacceptable homework excuse of the week: Gigglesnort. I'm still researching Uranus.

The gossip in the pit is that Girly has been tweeting with RCD. It's apparently faster than Owls (and we know how RCD likes to be fast) and Jeff doesn't have to roll down his window or even take his helmet off to get them.

In short - WE'RE LOSING. Everyone to the Lido deck for emergency plotting and crafting.

I'd like to take a moment of silence to remember the bravery and loss of the events of 9/11. Ten years ago I slept in and my train was stopped going into New York city. It was once again a close race, but Alrischa's nomination was a strong endorsement of Mr. Jackman's brainy qualities, displaying his analytical skills as well as his sensitive, poetic side. Detention: Week 1

School's just started, and House Cuppers are already turning up in Detention. This first week, most of them have been Gryffindors, with nearly five times as many turn-ins as the next-closest House, Ravenclaw, and more than six times as many turn-ins as the House least likely to be spotted in Detention, at least this early in the term - hard-working Hufflepuff.

The Noble House of Slytherin hasn't been absent from the Detention classroom, though, bringing a wide variety of high-quality, and (shall we say) long term, projects into the miniature Room of Requirement our Detention moderators have created for us this term.

Over the following weeks, I will be focusing on Detention projects by type - shawls one week, mitts the next - but this week, I want to spotlight the work of two of our new students, and one whose Detention assignment truly exemplifies Slytherin cunning and ambition.

First up, Oriocookie's spectacular Dueling Pianos. Ms. Cookie came to us from Gryffindor, and these self-designed, ribbon-laced socks are just one of the reasons we're so pleased to have her.

Next on the list, Ickle Firstie londonaftrdark made her Detention debut with this gorgeous Swiss Cheese Scarf.

(Ms. Dark, by the by, has already been heard to say, “Never underestimate Slytherin ambition. We have a House Cup to keep.” She's going to fit in just fine.)

And for our final project this week, Alrischa's August Socks, which she began as part of the Firsties' Sock-a-Long and ~~made sure she~~ didn't finish until September, thus earning 10 delicious points for her House. Very cunning, indeed.

A recent count-up showed that Gryffindor has approval for 43 OWLs, Hufflepuff has 33, Ravenclaw has 40 and Slytherin has 51. That's almost 8000 points right there.

We also have 7 approved NEWTs, which is more than any other house so far!

EvilOverlady314 here reporting on the first day of classes. According to my Cheat Sheet of Total Domination - all the Slytherins must be seasick. Not one Snake turned in homework the first day of class!

Four Ravenclaws, two Puffs and two Griffs all managed to turn in homework on day one AND the Lions have taken over Detention. I stopped counting projects after 50 - DAY ONE ONLY.
Seasick remedies are now being given out at all bar locations. Turn in your homework snakes or our HOH may permanently dock us and take away our umbrella drinks.
Unacceptable homework excuse of the week: the cabin boy was delivering my homework and was washed overboard.

My fellow Snakes, welcome aboard the HMS Severus Snape!!! For this term it will be our home away from the dungeons. I would like to thank both The Master and The Tenth Doctor for all of their hard work in applying Time Lord technology to the ship so she will be ready for us this term. Last term we had an absolutely fantastic time and as an added bonus we were able to win the House Cup. Our main goal for this term will be to retain the House Cup so I hope everyone is ready to do their part for the Noble House of Slytherin.

Every Snake needs to keep in mind that it is highly important to complete one class each month to mantain an active status here at the House Cup. Detention, OWLs, NEWTs, OoTP, and Quidditch do NOT count for the one class a month requirement. Failure to complete the one class minimum may result in not being sorted the following term.

Keep in mind that I am not a mind reader and I do have a very busy schedule with two small boys and real life college courses. I may not be able to return PMs but I do read each and every single one. So if it has been a day or two since you sent me a PM then I may have gotten distracted by one of my boys before I got a chance to respond. Plus you could also let your Big Snake, one of the Prefects, the Head Girl, or the School Nurse know what is going on. Please keep in mind that exemptions are at the discretion of the Head of House and are not automatically given.

I know the House Cup can be quite overwhelming at times and there is so much that is offered. You do not have to do everything. All I ask of every Snake is that you complete one class a month. And it doesn’t even have to be a large project. Small projects count too. Every single project counts. Every sinle point counts. Every single Snake is important. Do not hurt yourself trying to do more than you are cabable of completing in a month.

Here in the Snake Pit “disagree” = “awesome”. Enough said.

Everyone is welcome to post pictures of their favorite hotties. Don’t forget to post the name so that curious Snakes are able to look up more pictures. Plus not everyone may know who the hottie is and would greatly apprectiate a name. Keep in mind that full frontal nude shots are a no-no. Please keep your hotties appropriately covered. Also be sure that the hotties are above the age of legal consent. The age of legal consent is 18 years old. Hey Snakes! The HMS Severus Snape has set sail and the Fall Term commences!

The hotties seem a bit disoriented, what with being packed into boxes and moved around so much, so let's help them settle in with a good old-fashioned Slytherin Hottie Contest.

To celebrate the first week of the House Cup classes, the theme for this competition will be Brainy Hotties!

Post pictures (with names, of course) of your favorite brainy, intellectual hotties in the Bring Forth the Hotties thread in the Snake Pit (hotties wearing sexy glasses, reading books, or using lab equipment will be a plus!). As we all know finding the perfect house for you is sometimes quite daunting as all four offer friendship, support, and love. Though ours comes with hotties. In order to help sort out the unsorted, Jesseknits that mistress of all things (un)holy, gathered serpentine input on the

33 Crafting Commandments of Slytherin House.

1. Thou shalt not prod the first years.

2. Thou shalt not knit him a sweater before reciept of a ring.

3. Thou shalt not wash without referring to label.

4. Thou shalt not cast on without swatching.

5. Thou shalt not frog in haste.

6. Thou shalt not take acryllic's name in vain - it has it's uses, you might just not fathom it yet.

I'm Rockinsticks and this is Weekend Report. In our top story this week - Sorting Hat Spottings. It has been confirmed that the Sir Hat has returned from his vacation of dalliances with a certain mystery scarf off the coast of Crete. A Slytherin Hottie sent to pose as a pool boy at the resort informed us that Mr. Hat and Ms. Scarf had large deliveries of food owled in from "Fair Foods Inc." Meals included doughnut burgers, chocolate covered bacon, and deep fried whatzits. One must ask how the mysterious Ms. Scarf maintains her svelte and lacy figure.

Upon arrival back at Hogwarts Sir Hat belched, headed up to the headmistress' office, appearing hours later freshly showered to oversee the Sorting Ceremony.

Weather: Thunderous WIP clouds will be seen throughout the Forbidden Forest for the remainder of the month.

In other stories, Headmistress gives castle the staff. New and returning staff were welcomed this week. Students have already begun to assign unflattering animal characteristics to them in the tradition of "The Great Greasy Bat of the Dungeons". One Slytherin was quoted as saying, "Silly rabbit, bats are for breakfast." Slytherin alumnus Master Osbourne has declined to comment.

I'm Rockinsticks and this is Weekend Report. In our top story this week, future domination. While Slytherins nested in velvet sofas with tasty beverages projecting an image of coolness while awaiting the announcement of the house cup winner, plotting began for Winter 2011. Top scoring will go to those who can tame the OWLs, NEWTS and newly introduced Phoenix Missions. The need to win all the points next term had snakes cleaning their crafting areas and sorting stash for next term. One Slytherin was quoted as saying, "One OWL, a NEWT and an Order of the Phoenix Mission = all in a day for me." Note: Slytherins in mirror are crazier than they appear.

Weather: Slowly drifting stash will fill the skies over the dungeon.

Fame, Fortune and Fail

Today on Weekend Report we celebrate the humor of the fail. It would seem that in spite of our ambition and lust for winning Slytherins can in fact sometimes go astray.

Showing us that in fact there might be such a thing as too long at sea, Polcamilla trapped on a cruise ship managed to make this extraordinarily gargantuan sock. As anyone around the snake pit can tell you, fail and Polcamilla don't really seem to go together. My theory - she can knit without looking and was busy watching hotties peruse the deck. Just a theory.

In other disappointing news my best worst this term was this small dog. It is wrong on so many levels. 1. Needles too small for yarn weight leading to much struggling and cursing. 2. Apparently I used my foot or some other less than coordinated limb to stuff it. 3. It appears that someone strangled the dog to make his eyes pop out to an enormous size. Not even my terminally out of focus camera could have saved this one.

Well, that's really all I've got for this week. It's been a great term. Three months, crazy amounts of crafting, a cool group of firsties about to graduate the first year and excellent conversations. Good luck in the wee hours tonight finishing up your homework and OWLs. I'll see you all at the end of term bonfire. I'll be the one wearing strategically placed carnations and drinking bourbon out of the house cup that yes, will be ours once again.

Guyliner Hottie Winner

I am thrilled to report that the winner of this past week's hottie contest, Hotties in Guyliner is none other than ... David Tennant! A perennial favorite in the Dungeon, best know for his role as Doctor Number 10, he stars in the upcoming remake of the 1980's horror/comedy film, Fright Night. And boy does he wear that guyliner! Rumor has it that he spends much of the movie in leather trousers as well, but if you need yet more reasons to see him on the big screen next month, check out the below gallery. Especially the first pic, which just screams Hottie King of Slytherin.

I'm Rockinsticks and this is Weekend Report. In our top story, Transfiguration Disaster. Fed up with her OWL an anonymous snake fired a hex at Mistress of OWL Oversight, SeaShelly this week. Attempts at protego failed and when the smoke cleared it was revealed that her arms had been transfigured into her weapon of choice - the whip. Smiling like a sexy Doc Ock, SeaShelley brushed herself off and introduced a new form of loving discipline deemed the "Whip Hug". One snake was quoted as saying, "Wow, makes me kind of wish I hadn't finished my OWL so early."

Weather: Hot, hot and more hot so who really cares?

I'm Rockinsticks and this is Weekend Report. In our Top Story this week Mascot Rights. Heated discussions took place in the common room over the ethical ramifications and preparation methods for astrological animals. With Astronomy not on the class list this term Slytherins felt safe embracing the tasty possibilities of twin fish, and angry mutton. Frowned on was the ingestion of mermaids and virgins though future debates will be held to determine the correct usage of the term "eat".

Weather: Work on your OWL or SeaShelly will rain fire down upon thee.

In other stories Quidditch continues the quest for immortality. The Slytherin stands erupted with a roar as Gothknitty scored with all three Hallows! Let's look at the highlight reel.

From the Sub-human Interest Desk - The End. How fitting it is that our last chance to dress like a middle aged boarding school girl and go to a midnight movie coincides with the end of term. It's got me wondering what you all do on the months in between terms. Do you still craft HP themed things? Do you skim the books looking for obscure references you may have forgotten? Or do you drink away the previous term's OWL memories and renew your vows as a born again muggle? Leave a comment - it gives me something to do in boring meetings.

I'm Rockinsticks and this is Weekend Report. In our top story...DUCK!!!!! Or rather OWL. Nine days into July and three spectacular Slytherins have put their pencils down and turned in their OWLs to the examiners.
The Lambchop00 and KnitInferno showed off their mastery of multiples of footwear with four pairs of socks each.

Weather: Buffalo golden solar flares expected to force all of us to abandon our computers in favor of finishing our OWLs.

In other stories, Hottie Camouflage Spells. It was revealed this week that dark arts have been at work in Gryffindor Tower. Our lovely tower dwelling fiends have found a way to magically render hotties to look unappealing to the general population.

I'm Rockinsticks and this is Weekend Report, wait, no, maybe it is Snake Stalking, no um maybe Hottie of the week....

Thank you Sven. As I was saying, this is weekend report. In our top story decisions. The first few days of July saw Slytherin housemates rich with choices. Are they to jump right in to the new and exciting homework assignments, do they buckle down and knock out their OWLs, face up the the Headmistress Challenge or continue the pursuit of Horcruxes and Hallows. In true Slytherin form stash was sorted and plans formulated for racking up points the last month of the term. One hottie was quoted as saying, "My mistress, she is so distracted. I try to soothe her and she swats me and not in the way I prefer."

Weather: A mildly strong high low front will be plying singles through the night.

In other stories classes are up and challenging to say the least. Snakes will really need to stroke their crafting and creativity muscles to tie classes into their work. It was this reporter's intention to provide some suggested patterns, but frankly I am stumped. Inspired yet stumped. Maybe some of you have some thoughts?

This is Rockinsticks and welcome to Weekend Report. In our top story this week the Headmistress snuck out of her ~~shackles~~ office and issued the call for all Hogwarts students to show another side of themselves. The dungeon walls began to ooze metaphor as Slytherins began to draw parallels between the boy-who-is-slightly-overrated and the-boy-from-Tatooine. One snake was quoted as saying, "Darth Vader and Lord Voldemort walk into a bar. Sauron turns to them and says, 'Pesky short orphans!'"

As of this writing two projects have been submitted. First in was the illustrious Maigret who found parallels between two hotties with large noses (you know what they say). And between stone angels and those angles of desolation, the dementors.

And 01Tangled reminded us that diamonds might be a girls best friend, but make sure you know their origins be it Mount Doom the Cottage of Slytherin.

Weather: Mohair is to sweaters as fog is to driving.

In other Stories, OWL on the half shell. Slytherins continue to rock the half OWL mark. 37 of you have ripped at least one wing off that nasty bird. That's 1850 points for us with 5 days to go. So drop that Horcurx and get back to your OWL. We will bring the cup back to the noble Casa de Slytherin and sponge bathe the hotties out of it.

Forgivable Curse of the Week: Pull your head out of your bottom whorl!

And from the Sub-Human Interest Desk, - I am lazy, but kindhearted. Many of you know that our lovely DrusillaWormwood has been fighting her way through a particularly nasty dark wizard known only as Sir Jerry. As I stood in the Father's day card aisle last week I was thinking how great it would be if all the Slytherins signed a get well card for her. Knowing that by the time it circulated the globe for signature we'd likely all be dead, I've decided to try something tricky - if not lazy. Dru brings a lot of humor to the dungeon and I would like to return the favor. If all Slytherins interested will PM me a joke by July 15th I will hand print them all with your names on a ginormous card and mail it off to the lovely Ms. Wormwood. So that's it. Just send me a joke and with any luck we can help her giggle a bit. It can be a one liner, something you got from a waitress, or whatever happenend to be on your laffy taffy wrapper. Oh and the best thing is - no PG-13 line and I am extraordinarily hard to offend (with the exception of racial slurs - don't do it, you won't be included if that is your taste).
